Case Study: Security and Maintenance Solutions for a Group of Schools in South London
Scope of work
A group of five schools located in South London approached us for an integrated CCTV security and maintenance solution. Initially, they were looking for an access control installation but soon moved their full maintenance requirements to us, signing a 12-month contract with the option to extend for an additional five years.
The group of schools had a variety of security and safety systems that required ongoing maintenance, upgrades, and new installations. Their previous service provider lacked the resources to meet their growing demands, particularly around access control. The schools wanted to work with a security provider local to their London location that could offer comprehensive solutions across multiple security systems while minimising disruption to their daily operations.
- Gates: Maintenance and remedial work on over 10 automated gates across the five school sites.
- CCTV systems: Comprehensive maintenance and remedial work on a large number of analogue and IP cameras. The existing CCTV systems used various brands, all integrated through a Digital Video Recorder (DVR) system.
- Fire safety: Installation and maintenance of fire safety systems, including a new Gent Panel, connecting to more than 40 devices for enhanced fire detection and response.
- Access control: Installation and maintenance of Paxton Net2 access control systems on all sites, securing over 30 doors.
- Intercom systems: Maintenance and remedial work on the Paxton Net2 intercom system, ensuring seamless communication between staff and visitors.
- Fire extinguishers: Regular maintenance to ensure all extinguishers are fully operational and compliant with safety standards.
- Intruder alarm systems: Maintenance of the existing combination of Pyronix and Texecom intruder systems, providing reliable protection against unauthorised access.
Challenges
The primary challenge we faced was scheduling the installations during the school holidays to avoid disrupting the students and staff. The tight time frames during these periods required our team to work extremely efficiently and in coordination with the schools’ timetables to ensure smooth installations and transitions.
Results
The initial access control installation was completed successfully, and the client was impressed with our ability to meet their tight deadlines. As a result, they moved their entire maintenance portfolio to us, covering gates, CCTV installation, fire safety, access control, intercom, extinguishers, and intruder systems. We have since been tasked with ongoing maintenance and remedial work across all five sites.
Future plans
The client was extremely pleased with the work we conducted, and has signed a 12-month maintenance contract, with expressed interest in extending the contract for an additional five years. This long-term partnership highlights our ability to deliver tailored solutions for complex, multi-site environments, particularly in the education sector.
